This application was originally written to serve a very specific purpose: Display the past work of 3D Shadowcasters. However, over time we've adapted it for more generic and flexible use, developing it to be used as an integrated component of many other sites and applications.

In addition to the basic purpose of displaying a collection of images, this gallery has full multi-user support (controlled by the modular framework), allowing multiple users on a site to upload and manage their own images. All images, including full-sized views and thumbnails, are dynamically generated and cached server-side, with the various image sizes controlled via configuration variables. Those variables can be changed at any time, and the system will automatically re-cache images to match when updated.

The version of the gallery used on this site is designed to integrate with our content management system as well, providing image support for articles published with the CMS. Any article can have multiple images associated with it, and any image can be associated with multiple articles, for maximum flexibility.
